27th Annual Volunteers of the Year Awards
Did you see the insert in this Sunday’s paper recognizing our communities hardworking and caring volunteers? The SKyPAC Ambassadors were recognized as Team Spirit Award Nominees at the 27th Annual Volunteers in Action Volunteer of the Year Awards. Representing the Ambassadors were members of the Ambassador Advisory Council, including Arnie Petrus, Laura Coker, Janet Cole, Marilyn Wingfield, Kessara Dagley, Jonna Smith Joanna Simmerman, and Kay Bowles. Push/Pull: A Solo Exhibition Featuring Artist John Perry
Solo exhibition for painter John Perry, entitled Push/Pull, opens on Friday, June 3, 2016 in conjuction with the Bowling Green Gallery Hop with an opening reception honoring the artist from 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM (CST) in the SKyPAC Main Gallery. ABOUT JOHN PERRY – Perry has been an artist since he was very young, but first developed as a painter in order to cope with the stress and failure he experienced after dropping out of college. Through the encouragement and support of loved ones, he returned to the university to pursue an art major where he began experimenting with mark-making tools and techniques that would later form the method for his body of work. After receiving his art degree from WKU, Perry relocated to Nashville, where he set up a studio, and is always looking for new ways to challenge himself as a painter. A Matter of Perspective – VSA KENTUCKY EXHIBITION
A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE VSA KENTUCKY EXHIBITION Selections from the Student Traveling Exhibition is on display at SKyPAC Children’s Gallery in Bowling Green Kentucky this spring, April through May 2016. The Student Traveling Exhibit, also called “A Matter of Perspective” is comprised of artwork created by K-12 students with disabilities from schools across the Commonwealth. At the beginning of each school year a Call for Art sent out to Kentucky schools. The deadline for submissions is October 20th. Artwork selected for the exhibit is matted and prepared to travel to schools, libraries, galleries, etc. across the state. At the close of the annual tour, several pieces are framed and continue to be exhibited in Selections from the Student Traveling Exhibit along with artwork from past exhibits.
