Located in Bowling Green, KY, The Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center (SKyPAC) 80,000 sq. ft. LEED Silver Certified facility that includes a 1,743-seat state-of-the-art Performance Hall, the 200-seat flexible Carol Wedge Studio Theater, two multi-purpose rehearsal halls, a 946 square foot Main Gallery and a Children’s Gallery. SKyPAC also manages the Capitol Arts Center, which features a 750-seat performance hall and two art galleries. As a not-for-profit 501(c)3, the mission of SKyPAC is to provide exceptional artistic and educational experiences by presenting, producing and exhibiting the highest quality art. In support of our mission, SKyPAC offers a full season of Broadway and other performances, and local, regional, and national artists exhibit in two of our three galleries. Education programs include summer camps, teacher training, children and youth visual arts exhibits in the Children’s Gallery, in-school artist residencies, and school day performances of touring youth programs.

Job Overview:

The Maintenance Manager oversees all aspects of the facilities operations including the scheduling of regular maintenance activities, managing contracts of outside HVAC vendors and elevators, and supervising and assisting in the set-up of non-theatrical events such as meetings and catered events.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the overall appearance and proper operation of the facility, inside and out. This also includes The Capitol Arts Center in downtown Bowling Green. The Manager will serve as senior maintenance technician of the facilities, and will schedule the appropriate maintenance staff. Manager will be responsible to learn the computer operating system of the various building systems, including HVAC, security, fire etc.

Reporting to the Operations and Events Director, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the development, in collaboration with other SKyPAC team members, a custodial monitoring and implementation scheduling system that assures that all facility spaces are properly taken care of according to their use requirements.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for scheduling appropriate staff, inventory, security and ordering of all consumable supplies used by the department including, but not limited to, light bulbs, consumer consumables, cleaning supplies, and the maintenance of all “house or attic” stock. The Maintenance Manager will develop a system to identify the various paint colors and their locations within the building and a program that assures all areas remain “like new”.

Position Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of building systems and housekeeping methods

  • Knowledge of purchasing and inventory methods
  • Scheduling and coordinating multiple activities
  • Knowledge of fire and safety regulations and the ability to handle emergencies
  • A thorough knowledge of materials, supplies, equipment and practices used in cleaning, repair and maintenance of buildings and facilities
  • Tracer SC knowledge (or Summit), and HVAC knowledge (including water treatment, chiller basics and cooling towers).
  • The ability to work long hours (which will include evening and weekend work as required) under pressure of client demand and to coordinate a staff of part- and full-time employees
  • The ability to establish and maintain appropriate records and make accurate reports utilizing the Microsoft Office and other appropriate software.
  • Skills in oral and written communications, budget and expense monitoring
  • Strong affinity for customer service with strong interpersonal skills
  • The ideal Manager will be “hands on” with particular skills in one of the many construction type trades – construction, electrical, plumbing, painting, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
