Fall of 1986 he accepted a position in the Department of Art and Design at Western Kentucky University, where he served as a faculty member until his retirement in 2017. I am drawn to the space between forms as much as I am to the form itself. The leftover, the shapes found in objects, type, and nature. These fragments generate their own language. In my work, they are repurposed into abstract structures where geometry, color, and spatial tension overrides meaning. In doing so, my intention is to make a balanced composition sustained by the interaction of positive and negative space.
My belief is that both life and art develop over time. Each piece builds on past discoveries while looking towards new possibilities.
