Maksim Chmerkovskiy Bio
Maksim “Maks” Chmerkovskiy is a Ukrainian-born American Latin ballroom champion, choreographer, producer and television personality best known for his long-running role as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars. After immigrating to Brooklyn as a child, he rose through the global competitive ranks, ranking among the top professional Latin dancers in the U.S. and internationally, before becoming one of the show’s most
recognizable stars across 17 seasons, reaching multiple finals and winning the Mirrorball Trophy in 2014. A charismatic and influential figure in modern ballroom, Chmerkovskiy has also built a multifaceted career spanning Broadway, television, live touring productions and dance education, solidifying his reputation as one of the most impactful and commercially successful dancers of his generation.
