We had a great morning with visual artist John Perry and the 5th grade group from Lost River Elementary today for our “Express. Experience. Excite. – A SKyPAC Visual Arts Exploration” program. Students toured John Perry’s “Push/Pull” exhibition in the SKyPAC Main Gallery, had a collaborative discussion with him about his work, and finished their visit with a hands-on studio project focused on mark-making. Interpreting the act of “Mark-Making”
Mark-making as interpreted by the artist, “an activity that breeds its own technique.”  Making a mark on a page and understanding what is special about how the mark was made and understanding mark-making as a practiced discipline – it’s the practice of being at play.
