SKyPAC galleries are inclusive spaces and we strive to gain additional knowledge through our creative cultural partnership with Arts for All Kentucky. We commonly pose the question, “Are you coming into this space with a willingness and openness to experience something new?” In this exhibition, we hope you will challenge yourself to learn some American Sign Language (ASL). First, learn how your hands form the letters of the alphabet in this simple image.
As you watch the digital exhibition (above), see how many letters you can identify. Try to create the letters as you watch and learn ASL!
In addition to the digital exhibition, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear includes a sign language lesson in his daily Covid19 updates courtesy of his interpreter Virginia Moore. The lesson happens at the very beginning so join in to expand your ASL knowledge each day at 4:00 p.m. CDT on Facebook LIVE.
ASL skills and communication are beneficial for a variety of reasons, join our friend Rachel to learn more in a short video called Learning Sunday! https://youtu.be/3DEzJTxxmlM
